Tooth reshaping, or cosmetic contouring, can be used to alter the length, shape, position, and, in some cases, the bite of your teeth. In a few minor circumstances, cosmetic contouring can even be an effective alternative to braces.

Procedure
After taking dental x-rays to ensure there is enough supporting bone between the teeth, the dentist will then begin sculpting your teeth. The dentist uses either a sanding drill or a laser to gradually remove surface enamel. Then, the dentist will move abrasive strips back and forth between your teeth to shape the sides. The teeth are then polished and smoothed. Usually, it is not necessary to use any anesthetic and the procedure takes between one and three visits.

Cosmetic contouring is frequently combined with bonding in order to help you achieve your most beautiful smile.  Please contact our office today to learn more about how cosmetic contouring can help you!
